These bangles were made by the men of the Gidag'odiga tribe, in the north of Tanzania. These men are known in the region for their blacksmithing abilities and work on metal outside and with the bare minimum in terms of equipment. Usually they sell their work to tourist shops but we were lucky enough to visit their home directly and purchase the bangles straight from them. The leader of the tribe was extremely happy to sell so many bangles in one day and proud to support his family and his tribe through his craft.
They are hand-engraved out of brass and are adjustable. Each bangle comes in a pouch made from recycled Indian sarees.
Brass will tarnish and patina over time turning a dark brownish aged color. If you prefer your brass to shine simply clean it with a polishing cloth.
